The
construction of the Argonia Mart began in July of 2003. The
premises were completed and opened for business in December of
2003. In the design phase of the project, a questionnaire was
circulated to the local Argonia residents asking what features
they would want in a grocery/convenience store facility. Over
100 responses were received and reviewed. The final design of
the "mart" reflects services and products requested from local
feedback received.
The facility consists of a metal building
with many energy efficient features. The approximate size of the
facility is 50’ by 75’. A front façade was added to the base
building to provide interest, energy efficiency and stability.
The interior provides some seating for dine-in customers and two
main sections
- convenience side and grocery side.
The
convenience side offers standard items
found in most convenience stores plus movies, lottery and Simple
Simon’s pizza. The grocery side provides products from
Affiliated Foods Midwest with both economy brand and name brand
merchandise being offered.
The outside fuel business offers low and
high octane gas and diesel. All products supplied by Philips/Conoco.
Credit card readers are offered for 24/7 fuel purchases.
The Argonia Mart is committed to support
local community projects such as reader board activity support,
school fundraising programs, pizza fund raising programs and one
high school scholarship per year. A great partnership with the
community has been formed.
