The
Argonia United School District #359 has a long tradition of excellence in
academics and activities. The school enjoys outstanding community support.
Argonia High School is classified 1A by the
KSHSAA and is a South Central Border
League member.
The 2004-2005 preschool through twelfth grade enrollment was 224. Preschool,
Kindergarten and the first through sixth grades are housed in the Argonia Elementary School
(pictured above) and the
seventh through twelfth grades at the Jr./Sr. High School (pictured below). Argonia
Elementary offers three and four year old preschool and all day Kindergarten.
The academic program includes comprehensive curriculum, after school programs,
wireless technology and summer school.
Argonia Jr./Sr. High School's comprehensive curriculum includes home economics,
industrial technology, business, computers and IDL (Interactive Distance
Learning). The IDL classroom supports adult continuing education and college
level courses.
The students of USD #359 have achieved Standard of Excellence on Kansas
Assessments in all four areas assessed - reading, math, science and social
studies. Reading scores have been at 70%-80% AYP (adequate yearly progress) at all grade levels assessed. Math
scores have been at 80%-100% AYP at all grade levels assessed.
Argonia's Recreation Commission plays an active role with the school and
community to provide summer baseball and winter basketball to the
town's children.
